
Biography: Terri Robin Vernon
Terri has an extensive background in the visual arts, having received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1992. Upon graduation from NSCAD, she was the recipient of the Governor General's Medal.
She has exhibited her work widely and her paintings are in major collections, including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Art Bank of Nova Scotia, and the Art Gallery of St. Mary's University. Terri has organized many group shows and she managed a Halifax art gallery for a year before entering NSCAD. She group curated a web/electronic art show for Eye Level Gallery and in the fall of 1998, she curated a show of Nova Scotian masks for the Mary E. Black Gallery in Halifax. In February 2007, she exhibted her digitally created paintings in a solo show at the Mym Gallery in Annapolis Royal. Terri served as a member of the exhibitions committee at the artist run gallery ARTsPlace in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia for more than ten years. Terri is currently working on a show of digital artwork to be shown at ARTsPlace in 2010.
Terri's teaching experience includes teaching high school art and English, and teaching numerous drawing and painting classes to adults and teenagers since 1992. She has taught graphic design, illustration, communications, design history and web design at the Nova Scotia Community College since 1997.
Her accomplishments in the field of multimedia/graphic design include designing web sites, developing promotional multimedia programs, and design and layout of a wide variety of print materials. Terri's designs, illustrations and photographs have been published widely, in both print and digital form.
Terri is an experienced computer programmer, having graduated from the Information Technology Institute (ITI) in 1996 with a diploma in computer programming. Terri has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Dalhousie University. In 2009 she completed her Masters of Arts degree in Education from Acadia University.
Terri is a published writer, with over thirty of her articles on art, technology and education published in regional magazines.
